Who defines it
No document linked here defines ergonomic as a claim about a chair. BIFMA publishes test standards for general-purpose office chairs (ANSI/BIFMA X5.1) and for desk and table products (ANSI/BIFMA X5.5), and none of the chair listings here names either one. In the federal regulations linked below, the word turns up describing the work of a government office, not a seat.
